Climbing A Mountain

So here I am back from New Zealand and well..it feels like I never went away! Do you ever feel like that after a trip? It doesn't take long to get back in the swing of things.

So I now know why they call Queestown the 'Adrenelin' capital of the world. Everywhere I looked there was a shop for bungy jumping, white water rafting, sky diving, hiking, you name it! People were decked out in proper hiking gear (whilst I looked a bit daggy in my trackies and runners!). However, I didnt let this put me off. Dave and I decided to climb a mountain one morning after a not too restful nights sleep. We caught the Gondola up to the top and then began our trip. We were only 5 minutes in when the thought crossed my mind that I just may not make this…but soon shook that pessimistic thought back down the hill and set my mind for the 3 hour hike in front of us.

I could not believe how unfit I felt! Breathing heavily, heart racing…I felt like I was doing intervals the whole way. Dave explained to me the air was thinner hence the unfit feeling. We passed a couple of others along the way and made some stops every 30 mins for a drink break and just to catch our breath.

When we finally got to the top it was a very exhilarating and special moment. We had made it and the view was incredible. We felt very small and humble and it was a moment where I felt very appreciative for what I have…i can't explain it, but you need to do it for yourself.

So next time we go there…sky diving 🙂
