The best invention
So its been playing on my mind for a while..slow cooking in a slow cooker. I’m sure I have heard about this clever invention before but it wasn’t until about a year ago (I guess when I started taking my cooking a little more seriously!) that I became much more aware and would seek out friends who owned them. I would ask them numerous questions like : ‘how much has it changed your life?’ to ‘what do you usually make in it?’ and each time there answer would cement my decision to buy one ever more. However for some reason I delayed the process of buying one (they looked really heavy to lug home from Target) until work and life began to get really busy and then tada..look what I’ve brought home honey! (hubby very excited for me 🙂 )
So I decided to share with all my good friends and clients my first recipe in my slow cooker. It was simply delicious not to mention quick and easy to conger up. And oh the smell when you walk in from work! Girls and boys go out and buy one now – you will not be sorry, I promise you.
Meat and Sweet Potatoes for a cold and dark winters eve
Cover 400 grams of sirloin with steak rub and garlic powder. Line the slow cooker with Desiree or sweet potatoes, carrots, Spanish onions, parsnips and celery. Place the beef on top. Add 500 mls of stock and cook on low for 8 hours. Voila! Simple, healthy and tasty.
Note: for extra veggies steam up some broccoli and/or Brussels sprouts.
