06 Nov Keeping It Balanced
A negative mind balance is when our mental and physical goes from being nice and balanced to taking a big dip towards negativity. It can be very easy to be more negative then positive, especially if we have grown up in an environment that may not have been supportive or encouraging. Once you are in this negative balance it can be very tough to break its hold and get out of there! In relation to exercise and nutrition, the negative balance can occur if you train too hard, on too many days and don’t eat well enough for your body to recover and least of all for you to get stronger and fitter. Another negative balance can be if you are a binge eater or drinker and might for example binge all weekend and then work super hard that week to try and work it off. Quite often our minds are fraught with stress and frustration and we can often give up when it becomes ‘too hard’.
I myself experienced this negativity with my training and eating and so went on a little journey to find peace and kindness for myself. Here are my tips and what worked for me and also some more general ones for you:
Try yoga. Give it a go once and if you find it hard because your not eg burning enough calories, getting a runners high from it etc give it 2 more goes. You might be pleasently surprised. You only need to do 1 a week to see the benefits of peace, clarity, gratitude…
Mediate. I am going to be doing a little review on my book of the month which is all about meditation. I have now been preactising meditation for 2 months daily and I cannot describe the change it has brought for me
Be kind and gentle to yourself. No one else is going to do it for you.
Each time you catch yourself thinking of a negative thought, catch yourself consiciously and decide to change it into a positive one.
When you say ‘I cannot’ say, ‘I can’
Visualise success not failure
Its never to late change your attitude and your life
