The cholesterol myth

Cholesterol has been given a bad rap over the last couple of decades. I remember thinking cholesterol was the stuff that caused heart attacks and clogged your arteries or of course the rumour that the yellow in the egg is FULL of the stuff! Well how about if I told you that you actually need cholesterol for good health….

So what is cholesterol exactly?

Its a soft waxy substance not only found in your blood stream but also in every cell in your body which helps to produce cell membranes, hormones, vitamin D and bile acids that help you to digest fat. In other words, there is no life on earth that can live without cholesterol. You could not make oestrogen, testosterone, cortisol without it. So no one would be able to have babies!

So how can I lower my cholesterol naturally?

  1. Make sure your eating plenty of Omega 3 fats

  2. Reduce grains and sugars, especially fructose

  3. Eat a good portion of raw food

  4. Eat healthy, preferably raw fats such as olive oil, coconut oil, avocados, eggs, seeds, raw nuts, grain fed meats

  5. Regular Exercise
